Book Description:
The Second International Workshop on Scientific Computing and Applications (IWSCA) followed the very successful meeting that was held in the City University of Hong Kong in December, 1998. The second meeting took place in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada, in May­June, 2000. Its goal was twofold. On one hand it focussed on fundamental methods and algorithms for solving PDE's and linear systems of algebraic equations. On the other hand, it also attracted the attention of practitioners (mostly from the engineering community) who are employing these methods for solving complex engineering problems. Most of the applications came from the chemical and oil industries, aerodynamics and pulp and paper industry but there were also applications oriented towards financial modelling
