Editors: Sandhu, Daya Singh (University of Louisville)
Book Description:
The term Asian American and Pacific Islander represents 43 different ethnic groups. Between 1960 and 1990 the APIA population in the United States increased from 1 million to more than 7 million. Diverse social demographics are related to Asian Americans' psychocultural adjustment and adaptation experiences, such as acculturation and acculturative stress, perceived prejudice, and sense of ethic identity. This book examines topics such as transracial adoption, women's issues, substance abuse and the racial experiences of Asian Americans from a psychological and developmental perspective.
