Bisphosphonates in the Management of Bone Metastases (p. 91-97) $45.00
Authors:  Sara K. Taylor, Orit C. Freedman, Eitan Amir and Mark Clemons
Bone metastases are the most common site of recurrence of breast cancer and are well recognized as a source of significant patient morbidity and mortality. Our group has developed expertise in the field of research of bone metastases in breast cancer, specifically in the mechanisms of osteolysis, the effects of bisphosphonate therapy on bone turnover, and the implications of the discordance in receptor status between primary and metastatic tissues. We feel that it will only be through an improved fundamental understanding of the mechanisms of bone metastasis formation and function that we will be able to develop innovative strategies to control and ultimately prevent the metastatic process.
