Abstract: Explosions and accidents in industrial plants may generate a set of projectiles that might impact other facilities and tanks in their neighborhood. The impacted targets may be seriously damaged giving rise therefore to new explosions, as it is the case for tanks with products under high pressure, for instance. These successive explosions are known as domino effect. The present paper deals with a kind of industrial risks analysis within a probabilistic framework. This analysis requires three main steps: probabilistic modeling of the source term (industrial threat such as projectiles, metallic rods, etc), mechanical behavior of the impacted target and their reliability assessment. In this paper, the authors consider the case of metallic rods as projectiles. The source term requires therefore the knowledge of the following features: projectiles geometry (diameter and length), departures angles and velocity. They are the random variables governing the source term.
