Abstract: This paper describes the effects that the unique family characteristics of the Greek Cypriot culture have on the growing-up and learning processes of its members. Structural and functional characteristics of the family such as socio-economic status and cohesion, as well as attitudes, behaviors, roles, authority lines, parental attributions and involvement in the lives of the children are examined.
