Climate change mitigation policies and Post-Kyoto climate change mitigation regimes: Lithuanian case (pp. 583-618)
Authors: (Dalia Streimikiene)
Abstract: The paper deals with climate change mitigation policies and measures on local level and their role in implementing post-Kyoto climate change mitigation regimes. The aim of the paper is based on the case study of Annex I country – Lithuania to analyse the impact of future international climate change regimes on future energy options for specific Annex-I country based on requirements set by these regimes for GHG emission reduction in 2020 and 2050. The main tasks to achieve the target is to analyse possible international post-Kyoto climate change regime an define their requirement for GHG emission reduction for Annex I countries; to develop GHG emission projection scenarios for Lithuania taking into account impact of climate change mitigation measures; to compare various possible GHG emission projection scenarios including impact of climate change mitigation measures with requirements set by international regimes and to identify energy supply options for Lithuania driven by these future regimes. The case study of Lithuania is presented for analysis of requirements of various post-Kyoto climate change mitigation regimes on GHG emissions reduction and for the evaluation of impact of various GHG emission reduction measures.
