Leadership training for university students in Hong Kong: A critical review (pp. 25-40) $50.00
Authors:  Daniel TL Shek and Eddie CW Ng
Abstract:
Living in a world of rapid social change, leadership is much needed. This paper aims to take stock the leadership programs and education provided in Hong Kong, relevant to the university students. Furthermore, we examine the leadership programs to articulate the nature emphasized and strategies used in the local context, and highlight four phenomena conducive to leadership development in HK (the internationalization of higher education, corporate support for university student development, service learning movement and 3-3-4 educational reform). Lastly, the strength and limitation of the existing program and the future direction of the youth leadership initiatives in HK were discussed.
