The central focus of the book explores in different ways and perspectives some of the theoretical foundations of African integration, including an examination of historic antecedents in the African regional integration process, and discusses the evolution of the OAU and AU, including the pressures and constraints for the effective and efficient operation of the AU and the eventual creation of a Continental Government for Africa. It goes without saying that the content of this book is essentially a critique of Africa’s present situation within national and global politics – first Africa’s global context followed by a number of internal critical areas of the state. Each of these areas x-rayed have significance for the overall transformation of the continent. These chapters are discussed with great passion and desire to see Africa evolve on a new constructive level that advances the unity of the continent. Unity not for the sake of uniting; but one of forging interactive, constructive, positive and profitable dividends for the benefits of all not a select few.
