Contemporary Issues on Gender and Conflicts in Africa $82.00
Editors: Ojakorotu Victor and Kelvin Bribena (Department of Politics & International Relations, North West University, Mafikeng, South Africa, and others)
Book Description:
Contemporary Issues on Gender and Conflicts in Africa interrogates subjects relating to gender equity and conflict management in a unique way: It is an interdisciplinary approach that synthesizes ideas from diverse research areas in the humanities, social sciences, and management science.
The existential nature of this method, which the book adopts, is an imperative since collaboration and a critical element that should always define scholarship in the 21st century. Therefore, in an effort to harness existing academic schisms towards a better understanding of contemporaneous African conditions, this book enables a propitious atmosphere that engenders the exploration of the subliminal through a novel rethink of the polarity that has fractured the African state vis--vis gendering and the perpetuation of conflict with every ramification associated with these social praxes.
Consequently, the essays in this book draw from practical experiences as useful examples to illustrate claims and counter arguments as their authors enunciate policy recommendations that should have positive impacts on African communities in particular and on humanity in general. It is hoped that this collection will provoke further academic discourses and challenge policy makers as well as other stakeholders as they negotiate a wholesome and effective solution to the discomfiture that typifies existing models of social interaction in Africa.
